A Unique Tool For Moving From Stress to Real Spiritual Transformation
Suzanne Stabile may be the greatest authority of our day on the Enneagram as a tool for spiritual companions. An internationally recognized and highly sought after master enneagram teacher who learned under Fr. Richard Rohr, Suzanne has conducted over 500 Enneagram workshops over the past 30 years. And she is coming to SDI to offer spiritual companions and directors a deep dive on a little understood aspect of the enneagram: stances – a unique tool for moving from stress to real spiritual transformation.
Suzanne is known for her engaging laugh, personal vulnerability and creative approach to Enneagram instruction. Described as a “priceless source of wisdom” and a “grace-filled truth teller,” Suzanne’s winsome, narrative style of teaching connects with audiences of all sizes and ages.
Best of all, Suzanne’s husband Joe — an experienced pastor and spiritual director – will be joining this SDI workshop, situating the teachings squarely in the context of spiritual companionship and direction.
Whether you are brand new to the Enneagram or have been a student of it for years, this workshop series will help you to go beyond identifying your personality type and its basic insights and plunge into what to do with this understanding, especially in pursuit of spiritual growth, and especially in times of stress. In stress we migrate from our home number to another number, and knowing about our stress number can help us recognize that we have a choice about how to behave when stressed. We are given an invitation to take better care of ourselves.
Enneagram Stances are determined by naming the weakest of our three centers of intelligence: thinking, feeling and doing. Understanding the Stances begins a lifelong process that seeks to use each of the centers for its intended purpose. Learning to balance these three centers frees up enormous amounts of physical, emotional, and spiritual energy, and Suzanne and Joe together will guide us in how to bring this understanding into spiritual direction.
Nota: This workshop will assume a basic understanding of Enneagram wisdom. Attendees should be confident of their own Enneagram number before participating in this workshop. Suzanne does not endorse any online Enneagram test. Instead, she encourages individuals to learn their Enneagram number by reading the Enneagram primer, The Road Back to You, listening to her “Know Your Number” recording, or reading through the description of the Enneagram types on the Enneagram Institute website.
