SDI BIPOC Gathering – September 2023
September 20, 2023 @ 1:00 pm – 2:30 pm PDT
Inter-Faith and Interspirituality: Companioning and Practices
We call the Holy by many names. At this month’s BIPOC gathering, we will hear from one another how religions, faith traditions, and spiritual practices – many passed down from our families and ancestors – are strengthening our own faith journeys. Join us as we share how we cultivate our spiritual paths in companioning and practices.
Led by Westina Matthews, Ph.D., SDI Board Member
Westina Matthews is an author, spiritual director, and retreat leader who has found a way to connect with others through her books, essays, teaching, and “holy listening”. For twelve years, she was an Adjunct Professor at The General Theological Seminary in the Center for Christian Spirituality where she taught Contemplative Spiritual Direction. She is the author of This Band of Sisterhood (2021) and Soul Food: Nourishing Essays on Contemplative Living and Leadership (Sept. 2023).
This session is for those who identify as Black, Indigenous or a Person of Color who would like to connect with other BIPOC spiritual directors and spiritual companions.
