Plan a Future Gift

Give to Support SDI

There are so many ways to support the work of spiritual companionship in the world.

There are so many ways to support the work of spiritual companionship. If you have enjoyed SDI’s educational and social programs over the years, please consider helping others to learn from us by giving to one of our scholarship funds. These can be outright cash gifts that you can donate online here or you may make the ultimate statement of appreciation for SDI’s work by planning a legacy gift.

Simple ways to plan a legacy gift for Spiritual Director’s International can be achieved through your:

You can create a charitable bequest in your will to SDI. Here is some sample bequest language to put in your will:

  • Specific Bequest:

I give, devise and bequeath _______________ [insert dollar amount, percentage of total estate, or item of property to be donated] to Spiritual Directors International, a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, located at Spiritual Directors International, 3800 Aurora Ave N, Suite 202, Seattle, WA  98012. Our EIN is 94-3156697. The purpose of this gift is [“unrestricted” or “for Name of Scholarship Fund”.]

or

  • Residuary Bequest:

I give, devise and bequeath _______________ [insert % amount] of all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate to Spiritual Directors International, a registered 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, located at Physical Street Address, City, WA ZIP. The purpose of this gift is [“unrestricted” or “for Name of Scholarship Fund”.]

AND (if restricted to a scholarship fund)

  • Safety Language: Language added whenever a gift is restricted

In the event the purposes of the restriction, in the opinion of the Board of Directors of Spiritual Directors International can no longer be served, the Board may devote any remaining assets exclusively for purposes that: (a) are within the scope of the SDI’s mission, and (b) most nearly approximate the original purpose of the gift. The purpose of this gift is [“unrestricted” or “for Name of Scholarship Fund”.]

It is tax-savvy to make SDI a beneficiary of your retirement account because unlike individuals, charities don’t pay income taxes. Contact your plan’s administrator for the designation paperwork or access this paperwork online. Be sure to use our legal name and address:

Spiritual Directors International

3800 Aurora Ave N, Suite 202,

Seattle, WA  98012

Our EIN is 94-3156697

Consider asking your banker whether you can make a nonprofit entity a “transfer upon death” or “payable on death” beneficiary of your bank account (of any kind). This should be a beneficiary designation form that you sign and they keep on file, as well as give you a copy for your “Executor” file. This is the information that they will want for their records:

Spiritual Directors International

3800 Aurora Ave N,

Seattle, WA  98012

Our EIN is 94-3156697.

Your policy administrators have beneficiary designation forms that you sign and they keep on file. Don’t forget to keep a copy in your “Executor” file. This is the information that they will want for the form:

Spiritual Directors International

3800 Aurora Ave N,

Seattle, WA  98012

Our EIN is 94-3156697.

There are two ways to give from a donor advised fund: outright and a beneficiary designation. To give an outright gift, please notify your plan’s administrator to send a check of a specified amount made out to:

Spiritual Directors International

3800 Aurora Ave N,

Seattle, WA  98012

Our EIN is 94-3156697.

Be sure to indicate whether this gift is unrestricted or for a particular scholarship fund. You can remain anonymous to the public, but please be sure to let us know who you are so we can thank you!

You might consider making SDI a beneficiary of your donor advised fund. Ask your fund administrator for a beneficiary form. If you don’t decide what charity to leave it to – it goes into their foundation upon your death and then they decide what to do with your money! Be sure to notify your charities that you have planned this future gift because donor advised fund administrators don’t even have to notify them that you have passed away.

We also accept gifts of assets either while you are alive or under your will. Please call us if you would like to gift us the following:

Most importantly, your gift will provide spiritual inspiration and growth for so many directors and companions in the future.

For more information on any of these options, contact us at (425) 455-1565, email [email protected], or use the form at the bottom of the page. All inquiries will be handled in strict confidence.
